China says decision to block Huawei from 5G will hurt Australian business
China says the federal government's decision to ban its companies from providing equipment to new 5G networks will have a negative impact on Australian business interests, as the country's state-run media accused the Coalition of backstabbing Beijing and poisoning bilateral cooperation.
Chinese telco Huawei attacked the decision to
effectively ban it from providing equipment to new 5G networks as being politically motivated and has not ruled out taking legal action.
"The Australian government has made the wrong decision and it will have a negative impact to the business interests of China and Australia companies," China's Commerce Ministry, which rarely comments directly on Australian government decisions, said in a statement.
