As far as I know, management are no longer able in any way to represent the company once the Administrator/Receiver etc is appointed. If they wanted to make a statement they would have to do it as private citizens and not through the company channels.

Personally, I don't see anything underhand here. CFU spent all its money and was not able to generate sales. they went broke fair and square. If someone takes over the business and re-finances it, that has no relation to old management.
