Just thought I would ask the group their opinions on what impact CET implementation, or, more importantly, non implementation would have to GNX.
As I see it..
CET going ahead in a manner that has substantial impact to the Paris targets will certainly be most helpful for GNX's business case.
however
CET stalling (as the signs seem to indicate if the Gov. leaks are to be believed), will simply mean that coal and gas power continues to feed into the system, and the current prices continue to be sustained. This would also make the business case for GNX's progress stack up quite well. It would also cause other large scale PV/Hydro/Wind projects to remain cautious as certainty has not been delivered to the marketplace.
The only thing I can see that may (somewhat) impact the GNX business case going forward would be a collapse of the wholesale energy cost ... ie. if the gas policy being threatened by the Gov. actually has teeth. That would push down gas costs, and thus, energy costs somewhat.
Regardless, I don't see a high risk in my GNX investment.
Any counter thoughts guys ?
