I've received my Centamin scrip for 20,000 shares.
Rang a full service broker to ask about getting them changed to electronic so I can trade them and he informed me that they can do it, but it's a massive pain in the backside and I'd be better off ringing Commsec!
I rang Commsec, who I normally use anyway, and the guy at their international desk started telling me a long story about what I'd have to do to get the shares changed to electronically listed. Then the phone dropped out.
This is unbelieveable. It's 2014 and supposedly a global marketplace, but to simply sell some shares listed on the London stock exchange, which I hold the certification for, is a problem?
Can anyone who has experience in this process help with a simple explanation of what we need to do to sell our paper certificated shares in London or Toronto, and which you think is a better way to go? I suspect there is some easier way than the long winded process the guy at Commsec started describing.
Thanks for any help.
