Re the implications for the merger.

Correct me if I am wrong but the merger is not suppose to cost any more money, apart from the 2mil that CBD already ''invested" when they bought 2 million worth of Westinghouse shares.
The rest of the JV is just a share swap, replacing existing Westinghouse scrip with CBD scrip.

It will allow CBD shares to be traded on the Nasdaq.

IMO directors hope that the US investors are less conservative that the OZ ones and the SP could pick up.
One scenario is that the ecoKinetics tenders for work in US installing Westinghouse gear. US being big market with plenty of remote locations and some green movement hopefully CBD could make a bit of profit, given that the OZ has gone from frenzy to halt.

The patent argument seem to be about the modular system rather than the AC technology. This can not be such a big deal IMO, given that anyone can pre-assemble the solar installation in the workshop or factory, then ship the sections and reassemble on the site on final installation.
Not exactly a rocket science and why somebody would spend good money on a patent of "modules" does not seem to make much sense to me. It is probably because US is a nation of lawyers who will try to patent rain and then try to charge the Nature or God Almighty for letting it to rain.

It is like a furniture manufacturer trying to patent modular furniture, rather silly idea. My modular furniture is different from your modular furniture and my protection of my intellectual property is that my modules will not link with your modules easily or not at all. I do not need a patent, unless my design is so earth shattering that it will make squilions and even Lady Gaga will want to buy some. Yes US is a home of the brave, land of the free and asylum for insane lawyers. God bless America.
