SF - seems NSW dropping FIT from 60c (way over reasonable) to 20c (less than reasonable UNLESS medium sized commercial units up to (say) 1MW are included) has resolved part of the future of panel pricing in Aust. They must now reduce towards the international spot price of about $1.75/W, plus 100% for shipping, balance of system and installation gives installed cost of about $3/W.
This is about the same as now. The difference will be reduced profits all the way down the supply chain.
Good thing is relatively larger systems (residential 3-5kW) will be relatively cheaper than smaller (1-2kW).
I think FITs should always be set to give payback times in the 50% of system life range, say about 10 years.
