No Bonus, Cape Town doesn’t have the two years it would take to find and survey a site, install foundations, build the onshore desalination plant, install hydraulic pods on sea floor and rebuild and install the Ceto 5 buoys that were stripped and scrapped.
Even if they did all that, how much freshwater would they be able to make?
Cape Town has a population of 3.74 million.
If CCE was capable of making enough fresh water to save Capetown, Perth would have been drinking ceto water a long time ago.
I think Capetown would need something like the Makwater containerised desalination plants powered by diesel generators.
Down the track, they can adopt something more eco friendly, (perhaps involving wave and solar energy).
Right now they are in an emergency that needs an immediate fix.
