If the verdict is based on the evidence of one alleged victim and nothing else, IMO an appeal has a fairly high chance of success.

Sections of the Church have done some despicable things and deserve punishment. Leave them in the general population in prison and let natural justice take it's course.

But, I also hope just as much that those alleged to have done wrong are given fair trials, rather than being found effectively guilty by association. Evidence has to prove these things beyond reasonable doubt, being told one version of events versus another doesn't meet that hurdle. What evidence was presented to the jury above that of the alleged victim?
