CCF have a farmer on their board and a very big one at that - Michael Shields. Their 'package' for farmers is well targeted encouraging them to relinquish their marginal lands to carbon sinks. Makes sense. They are also looking at dual purpose crops such as sandalwood and brushwood (Melaleuca uncinata) to create not only a carbon sink but one with cashflow independent of that market.

The ideal model is a perennial tree crop that produces food/fuel commodities like an oilseed. Sandalwood ticks the box there ... the oil rich nuts are 60% oil and better still the production base includes the planting of legumes so fertilizer is not needed to drive fertility (ie fertility is driven by biological forces in this case nitrogen fixation).
