call me stupid but i fail to see how emissions trading will reduce carbon pollution

all this scheme does is allow heavy polluters to buy the right to pollute at will from low/no polluters, many set up solely to gain credits to be traded

"traded" is the operative term

imo, ET future's markets will develop with the usual speculative activity re. rights to buy/sell credits...for sure there's big money to be made by those who are smart and lost by those who have NFI...zero sum game

how all this will reduce carbon pollution or create NET job growth is beyond me

don't forget, neither china or india have any interest in these schemes
