I would not call them dumb... because whoever shorted it @ 70c+ he could have closed that position over the last week or so & is still in the money. If you have millions of shares to unload prior to ex day which is what's happening right now with this selling pressure then why not take extra leverage with some short. It is not a average Joe for sure.
