Head of research for stockbroking firm DJ Carmichaels, Paul Adams, said the number of companies from Australia seeking a TSX listing was rapidly increasing due to the ease of access to capital and the Canadian investor's bigger appetite for investing in small cap resources stocks. "If you are a smaller company it has become increasingly difficult to gain traction in the Australian market, particularly if you are looking to raise significant funds," Mr Adams said. "Canada has a long history of supporting and investing in junior mining companies, investors are very risk tolerant of commodities such as gold and uranium, and so Australian companies are securing greater support and higher valuation multiples in the Canadian market. This is well understood."
