Environment - The Emission Credits Corp. said Wednesday it has sold 107,000 tonnes of carbon-offset credits to Alberta emitters, and earned about $1 million for farmers in the process.
"Some of our farmers will get five-figure cheques, and they are pretty happy about it," says Robert Cloutier, president of the Didsbury-based company which deals with farmers and arranges for third-party verification.
Farmers earn about 60 cents an acre for practising zero-tillage, a technique which lowers carbon emissions.
