first of all thanks for your comment and letting me know how you do your taxes and how you send them to your tax agents. We are in agreement one ought not to hold shares if 50% deduction is the only reason we're holding them (I would like to say I was clever to sell BLK and DRM at 90 cents+ before I held them for a year, but it was just luck). I suggest sometimes a trade does take more than a year - if your example was 15 months instead of 7, for example.
And second, I don't drive so I don't know what's a corolla or what's a navara. I don't drink alcohol so I can't tell the difference between a merlot or a scotch and I only travel to visit my relatives overseas. But what I do want is to raise a family together with my wife, to raise my kids to be good persons not just in the heart but also in their actions. If I have a son I'd want him to be hard working and confident, someone who women are attracted to, who doesn't engaging in lots of relationships just because he can; and if it's going to be a daughter I'd want her to be hard working and confident, be modest and not addicted to seeking attention from men and I hope she won't get her heart broken too many times. I build software in my day job, and I loved studying during my finance degree so in my free time I like to research companies and try to figure out which ones are good and which ones are bad, and invest money to prove myself right or learn a lesson. And I write little programs like this tax thing for fun too.
You are not a dumbass obviously and I am sorry you think your mother's partner is an idiot, I hope he has other good qualities to redeem himself in your eyes.
