Banuelos, principal shareholder of mining in Uruguay

The Spanish businessman Enrique Banuelos, became, through his investment firm Veremonte, the main shareholder in the Australian mining Gladiator Resources, which maintains an iron project in Uruguay and plans to boost its activities in Latin America.

The company acquired Banuelos 19.3% of the shares amounting Gladiator undisclosed sources said on Tuesday the company.

Gladiator Resources has a project in Uruguay, Isla Crystalline Belt, valued at $ 400 million dedicated to the exploitation of iron mines.

The president of Gladiator, John Palermo, expressed his "full support and joy" of having Veremonte as partner for the development of their projects in Latin America, said the investment firm.

For the company Banuelos, Gladiator is the "right platform" for investment in the mining sector in Latin America.

This operation comes weeks after Banuelos agreed to acquire 28.4% of Amper Spanish technology group, for about $ 25 million, becoming its principal shareholder.

Moreover, among the recent string of Spanish businessman, figure reduced below 3% its stake in Brazilian agribusiness group Vanguarda Agro, Brazil Ecodiesel old, in several operations for a total of 120 million euros.
