Can't read the article as I am not a subscriber, but it has always seemed to me that Buckley was terrific when he was consolidating companies in Australia, but the company was seriously out of its depth once it went on the acquisition trail overseas. However they were in good company - look at the roll call of Australian companies who made bad acquisitions- all the big banks, Rio, BHP, Slater Gordon to name just a few
