Hi Fishie,
I noticed those articles earlier in the week and thought they were representative of the ongoing push by European institutions and the IMF to open up Cameroon and Africa in general to the influence of the west rather than China. I would expect the US will join in at some point.
It will be interesting to see which direction the bauxite goes in, the West or China. I did notice that management were on trains in Cameroon yesterday. Will it be a signing ceremony or just checking out the rolling stock?
The bauxite price continues to climb US$69 per tonne. Even without benification the current dollars per tonne are very attractive. Seems even in the current macro China is under increasing pressure to find some resources.
