In the midst of this theory, there is something else to consider. In the Old Testament there were some 250-300 prophecies given foretelling about the first coming of Jesus Christ, which were fulfilled right up to the smallest detail. Something else to consider! There are some 250-300 prophecies also given describing Christ's second coming, which, when truly considered are already being fulfilled and will be expected to be fulfilled, just as his first coming was. Sadly, many of the Jews some 2,000 years ago didn't accept Christ as the messiah, therefore different opinions and stories of Christ were then told to explain away who Jesus really was. Even the Old Testament prophets declared that he would come unto his own people and they would receive him not. Many have said all sorts of things about Christ, but I guess it gets to the point of whether we want to believe or not believe what Jesus declared about himself. Personally, I have always found a greater peace in life in his words; I am the way, the truth, and the life!
