CABcharge is the quintessential Australian monopoly.
The same way Woolworths and Coles are responsible in ensuring that Australian pays 20% more than other developed nations in foods; the same way the 4 major banks are earning billions in non competitive interest rate difference between loan and lending (not to mention fees); the same way a few companies always dominate almost every sector of Australian businesses, driving stagnation and overpriced non competitive service.
All of the above pale in comparison to Australian taxi services; overpriced, under-competitive, artificial monopoly where every Australian must pay 10% tax to Mr. Cabcharge.
Anyway, end of an era. Bad for the shareholders; good for the society.
