TWO BILLS FOR LEGISLATION WERE INTRODUCED TO THE ABG HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

Two bills for enactment into laws were introduced to the Bougainville House of Representatives this morning in the ABG Special sitting.The bills were tabled to the house separately by the Minister for Treasury and Finance, ROBIN WILSON and the Vice President and Minister for Mining, RAYMOND MASONO.The Bills were read for the first time by the clerk and the leader of Government Business, JOHN TABINAMAN moved to refer the bills to the Legislation Committee for further enquiry and deliberations. The bills have to go through 3 readings before they can become a law.The first Bill for enactment was introduced as the Bougainville Advance Holdings Trust Authorization bill 2019 and went through the first reading and was referred to the legislating committee for enquiry and will report to the house in the next sitting of the house on the 12th of February, 2019.The Vice President and Minister for Mining, RAYMOND MASONO tabled the second bill as the Bougainville Mining Amendment bill 2019.MR. MASONO presented the Bougainville Mining Amendment bill 2019 and this was again read the first time and referred to the legislation committee for further enquiry and a report on this will be tabled in the next sitting of the House of Representatives.The House then moved to listen to the Member for Selau and chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Referendum who tabled his report on the matter of Public importance to the House.The House was then adjourned to February 12th, 2019 and the members had time to get briefings from the Bougainville Referendum Commission.Meanwhile, the awareness team on the Bougainville Advance Mining today met with the Women of Bougainville and the Churches in Kubu.The presentation was made by the team leader, JEFFREY McGLINN and after his presentation comments were made by the Catholic Bishop of Bougainville, Bishop Benard Unabali, HELEN HAKENA, ANASTACIA LAPPOINTE and several other Bougainville leaders.The team yesterday made their presentation to the ABG Members and the Bougainville former Combatants on Monday.
