    What’s going on at BOS?

Poor ol' Peter has gone. Co-founder, researcher and promoter of the BOS concept of microbial quorum-blocking compounds from seaweed.

I have talked a few times with Peter and found him very willing to discuss the concepts and goals of the company. He has worked long and hard and I was impressed enough to ring him and leave a message of thanks and good wishes.

Peter, of course, was not the only person on the team. There’s Dr Staffan Kjelleberg and Dr Naresh Kumar who developed the library of synthetic compound analogues and, from memory, developed techniques for mass-production of the compounds in India. Naresh may even hold patents on the method. I have not heard from these people for a long time and am not sure if they still work at Biosignal. I would like very much to know. There are also university of NSW researchers studying and putting out papers seemingly with Peter and Staffan’s tutorage or at lease participation. There is interesting and promising looking research. I read an especially tempting recent paper on anti-fouling. Maybe some of these people will have a role in the company.

Well we don’t know what is on the cards for BOS. They may salvage something from the commercial trials [at Conoco etc] or research to date, but my hopes of that are fading.

Will the company continue with these anti-bacterials or is something entirely new coming along as a backdoor listing? The skill set of the new directors (Business and law, Corporate Attorney, Commercialisation Executive, Business Development (Health)) don’t seem to favour an industrial biochemical chemical company. BOS may soon be “transformed” entirely.
