I think whilst the payments are split into monthly payments, in reality people will always be hopeless and run up credit card debt. Using SPT may also cause people to get a credit card or seek to increase their card limits at a time when credit card usage is in decline in younger people. I think it will benefit the banks. Visa and MC will also benefit from an increase in pass through fees on every dollar spent.
