GM opposition exists because: (a) the fear of a few multinationals (Monsanto) taking over food production by the control of seed production, using all their techniques for market manipulation. ie the sell out of the worlds populations interest by giving away their rights with the implimentation of plant variety rights.
(b) there has been detrimental effects recorded and reported of this manipulation. eg CSIRO seed potato fiasco, US corn withdrawn as animal feed due to livestock losses
