On top of this ‘capacity constraint’,‘ is the unions who seem to me to be quite  full of umbrage at the rough deals the workers are getting.
It’s a buyers market for workers at the moment ...ie anything rare comes at a premium.... Are there rough deals or is just a bit of ‘jostling’ ?
Sadly there is the astonishing fact that, rather then being cherished and supported,  it seems that sub contractors and their staff are being sent to the wall.
As a woman I am not about to go out there and work in a job where I will be bullied then replaced by either a backpacker or a robot.  Well I wouldn’t mind a short term job out there but I am not going to waste my time doing any in depth training......

Chris Ellison of Mineral Resources has this to say on October 25 when he was commenting in the delayed start up at the Wodinga Lithium Project https://thewest.com.au/business/min...ources-wodgina-lithium-project-ng-b881002667z

.....”Mr Ellison also revealed the company had added about 830 people to its payroll over the past financial year and warned of a looming skills shortage.

“So far so good in the blue collar area, we’ve had no issues getting them and we’ve had no pressure in that area but it’s coming, it’s on the horizon next year,” he said.

“I think once the iron ore miners crank up and Woodside start, we’re going to get back to days of old. It’s going to get very hard to get labour and we’ve got to get some better strategies around it.

“A few years ago we could go out and get people on 457 visas — those things are harder and harder to deal with.

“We’re also spending a lot around culture within the business, facilities, making sure our pay grades are right.

“Keeping the people we’ve got is equally as important as trying to get new recruits on board.”

Interesting comparison to what @Killswitch had to say about a completely different sort of treatment at Monadelphous as previously noted.

Where is NRW placed in relation to this labour squeeze and how does it intend to navigate further squeezing?
No doubt we will hear at the AGM  meanwhile every significant announcement - long before the labour squeeze - has paid courteous and proud acknowledgment of employees and the excellent history NRW has in employees returning to the company.
I have previously posted glowing Facebook recommendations from those who work at NRW.
