    Also ..before things start to get too exciting again announcement-wise  NRW’s take on people:
    Not mascots - thorny devils, hairy nosed wombats and the like ...
    Not movie stars whose movie coincidentally grossed the same value  as our recent Queensland Curragh contract ...and was filmed on a plain of the same name ( Braveheart )

    Not even the wonderful, (clever) varied collection of shareholders gathered in these particular hallways by virtue of some fiscal relationship with the company be it short or long term.

    I mean the people at the heart of it all.
    The ones who work for us and take this company forward.

    There are around 2000 of them now I think spread across Australia ( hello and thank you  if any of you are reading!).

    NRW has a culture of valuing employees.
    From the rcent financial report:
    “NRW recognises that our success is the result of our dedicated workforce. A workforce that constantly returns to NRW as more projects are secured, and positions become available. We re-employ previous NRW employees as first preference wherever possible, and transfer people from completed projects to new projects to ensure we have the most knowledgeable people on the job. When we look for employees in the wider market, we attract new highly qualified candidates, even for short term contracts, confirming that NRW is an employer of choice. NRW aims to recruit and retain a skilled workforce and endorses a safe environment free from harassment and unlawful discrimination.”

    A recent health  and safety issue was in the press several weeks back with an FAL JV worker injured in July http://echonewspaper.com.au/airport-link-worker-remains-in-hospital/
    In the Full Year Results Presentation https://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20180823/pdf/43xlcwbmt0bq34.pdf  NRW reinforced its policy of “uncompromising” management of hazards in the workplace and continued focus on and strengthening of the safety culture across the workplace
    This presentation also noted:
    “• Retaining key project staff critical to successful delivery, current headcount at circa 2,000.
    • Business is responding well to increasing manning requirements – particularly re-engagement of previous
    NRW employees.
    • 8.1% Indigenous employment as a percentage of direct employees working on Pilbara projects.”

    In the accompanying press release , CEO, Jules Pemberton recognised the need to find and retain good people ;
    “As these buoyant conditions continue across our key delivery sectors access to resources, both equipment and people will become more challenging. Our strategy to minimise any impact is already in place partially through our ability to recruit and mobilise through our national footprint and by senior appointments across our business in operations and equipment technology who will also focus on retention and training of our workforce.”
