While solar may not be a profitable string to add to our bow I continue to think rehabilitation is .
Lead position on  Rio’s website is currently  Rehabilitation Works
“Planting the Future “. https://www.riotinto.com/ see below.

Which reminded  me  of trial rehabilitation works (currently small scale ) that NRW is undertaking  at Rio’s Argyle  Diamond Mine .https://www.miningmonthly.com/sustainability/news/1341082/nrw-starts-argyle-rehabilitation-works
The entire job will ultimately cost hundreds of millions of dollars over decades according to here https://thewest.com.au/business/mining/rio-in-for-the-long-haul-to-rehabilitate-argyle-ng-b88894459z.

This contract has been noted before but it is interesting to review it in the light of  RCR’s melted wax wings,  Rio’s web site and also because NRW/Golding is definitely developing rehabilitation strengths - currently also working on  the large scale rehabilitation works Stanmore Coal was  required to undertake as part of reestablishing  Isaac Plains,
    https://www.australianmining.com.au...ontract-extension-stanmore-coal-isaac-plains/
    The potential is enormous :
    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-08-...billion-clean-up-of-coal-mines-report/7685760
    https://www.envirojustice.org.au/pr...-costs-six-tricks-coal-mining-companies-play/

And also provides the opportunity to note ( I must be in a bad mood) the previous contractor was another foreign-owned competitor,; John Holland. (Leighton was there too )* http://mininglink.com.au/site/isaac-plains
“Leighton Holdings formerly owned the John Holland Group, a major Australian construction, rail and tunnelling group. In 2000, Leighton Holdings bought a 70% stake in the company, this was increased to 99% in 2004 and 100% in December 2007.[8] In December 2014, Leighton Holdings sold John Holland to China Communications Construction for $1.15 billion.[9]https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIMIC_Group

*onviously the cintractors  just did what they were asked to and so possibly are not at fault although reading about the previous work there it does seem that rehabilitation was part of the required works ...

Cheers to a future where rehabilitation is taken seriously, where solar actually works and where we all live happily ever after
    (Smart subliminal promotion there Rio!)
