Absolutely agree @croasian that we (most of us) are wage slaves. Working to survive and make a small minority rich. We are trained to chase a reward that never comes, the next "stage" of our lives is always when our reward will come.
On a related note, in 1980 my dad earned 30k per annum. Mum did not work. Mum and dad bought a 5 bedroom house for 55k. 15min drive from dads workplace in the small city where we all went to school etc.
2018. Can a family of 6 with one parent working buy a house at 2 x their annual income and live a comfortable lifestyle? I think it would be tricky.....
I think the real genius of the rich is the false idea of the meritocracy. This facilitates convincing one subsection of poor people to hate another subsection of poor people and blame them for their situation.
