Nova, I run a small business so should be a Lib voter.
The facts speak for themselves, the labour stimulus package saved us from a very ugly recession regardless of what the propaganda says. When you have many world economists and ex reserve bank governors praising the decisive action taken and its effectiveness it is hard to argue with. most of these people hold any political persuasion in Australia or even live here so have no axe to grind.
Yes there were problems, but when you have to act that quickly then you have to expect it.
The Batts is a classic, so much negative publicity by the Libs yet its effects will last for decades. Carbon emissions reduced from the lower heating bills, lower energy bills for homeowners, these savings will happen year after year for decades plus the short term employment boost from the installations.
The school building program actually received 300 complaints out of 30,000 projects, that's just 3% and that is a fact.
So lets not wish for Australia's version of George Bush to get in power, lets not choose a political leader by how many refugees they can kill.
many would proclaim the Howard regime to be the best economic managers we ever had, he just happened to preside over the largest boom Australia ever had, none of which was his making unless he can claim to have caused the rise of China/India. A monkey could have run an economy with that much cash pouring in
A Lib pollie sat on the Radio the other day and said that under the Howard Gov only 3 boats a year were reaching Australia, while this may be true the other 300 were being intercepted and taken to Nauru and then sent to Australia anyway, its just a matter of whether you want to hide them or be open and honest with what is arriving. If only 3 boats a year were arriving why did Howard need to build a $300m detention centre, or even have the pacific solution.
John Howard stabbed Costello in the back, Abbot stabbed Turnbull in the back, Whats new in politics, people vote for a Party, we do not vote for prime ministers, this is not the united states and we do not vote for a president, the politicians choose their leaders we choose the party.
