I disagree with this. Xped will take all the data in your home, simplify and integrate it so that all your differently branded appliances and techy stuff that has ''smart capabilities'' is accessible and controllable by you through one portal.
Buddy meanwhile compiles and collates data from ''smart'' technology and simplifies/analyses it for the brands themselves.
that is, a client of Xped would be a tech savvy or at the moment a high net worth family (it will become the norm in time), a client of Buddy would be Fisher & Paykel.
Also, even if Xped grabs a lot of data and puts it together, Fisher and Paykel for example would not want its competitor Sunbeam to have access to data coming out of its own devices, so a portal that integrates all the data such as Xped would not be handy for Buddy.
Buddy people told me they too can enter this ''retail portal'' space of IoT, but choose not too, as they want to keep their product offering simple and at a wholesale level and feel that that retail IoT space is too crowded, while the technology and algorithms in Buddy is unique, and provides opportunity for the mega dollars (upside is much greater).
(this is all from my understanding and chatting with Dave the CEO of Buddy)
