It's rare that you get to find out what the brokers know before the announcements finally hit the market (or more annoyingly when they are not actually announced).
A few things come to mind: - it's got to be a positive for actually having a broker (rather than just online trading). I've never had one; should I? - it's obviously good to have the right broker, who is involved in major deals like this or is at least clued in to other's deals - I hope your broker doesn't get in trouble as a result of this leak (!). I'm not sure what their responsibilities are in terms of confidentiality, but I'd imagine this kind of thing shouldn't get out

p.s. it shows great confidence in their own company on the part of DES to offer 55c, when their SP was around the 35c mark a few days ago; it's a 5c premium on what was the 15c + scrip
