The Chinese prefer spodumene.
There have not been the hard rock resources to attract attention until Pilgangoora as GB was taken. It is PIlgangoora that has woken the world to hard rock again.
The smaller plays in Canada and elsewhere will need higher prices to be viable. So on the one hand you're right and the other wrong. Not all brine is the same and nor is all hard rock.
In business you give the customer what they want. China is the main customer and they want spodumene. Simples....
Not a single brine pusher has bothered to explain why they prefer spodumene...because they do not want to go there...
