Also suggest you set-up a 'dummy' portfolio of stocks you would have invested in, recording the buy / sell prices WITHOUT investing any real money. Research each company, decide how much $ you will invest, & then buy in. Follow the real market to see how your notional decisions perform & if you would have had loss or gain.
The ASX run a game twice yearly with a notional $50k each to invest with the winner being the one with the highest valued portfolio value at the conclusion of the game.
Excellent practice against real-time market - thoroughly recommended!
