Great post Dan. KZL won't have a need to be in survival mode, which is why I find it curious it's pushing towards the same lows. My point on the banks is if mining is heavily diminished and the economy suffers as a result, the banks with such a high exposure to our local property market are at risk (not even thinking about the EU exposure). I expect mortgage insurance providers will go bankrupt if the number of claims gets out of hand, they can only provide limited protection.

If copper for example stays above $2.50, does your target remain unchanged, or is it contingent on continued weakness in commodities?

What would people think of this strategy.. long KZL, then a short position double that size on copper. If copper doubles, KZL would go ballistic so you wouldn't be worried about losses on your short position. If copper halves, you have your money back and KZL will still have some value (still be profitable, in fact).
