If AWB lose the single desk (regardless of whether to someone else or because its abolished) then what you will have left is a VERY VERY average rural merchandising group.

I hear from many contacts throughout the organisation that management is in disarray and many of their key senior staff have either been retrenched or have left in the last year or so.

Thats not to say that it won't bounce at some stage.. but the pictures of ex Chairman Trevor Flugge resplendant on a sofa pointing a revolver at the cameraman and Michael Long totting a machine gun for a happy snap make a pretty good image of how the boys club took over from Wesfarmers more professional management techniques.
