I have a good friend who is currently working at a mine in Burkina Faso and while he constantly complains about the food, accommodation and long roster, when it comes to the topic of terrorist activity he smiles. He says that it is all located in the north and east parts of the country and is very much a regional issue. There are a lot of police and army clearly visible every day. He smiles because he says it has increased his income and that many of the locals are essentially tribal/region culture and any insurgence is not excepted. Plus they want the work. The last protest he had was locals wanting more work.
