Agentm, thanks for your thoughts on TXN's well drilling progress. Compared to some other oilers (AZZ, SEA, etc), TXN's development is slow motion, but it is a very small firm with limited cash and good success record.
asf, you took the words out of my mouth! "The problem with "event-based" shares is they never really trade normally- everyone just waits." Earlier, I commented that TXN differs from several other oilers in this way -- it focuses on derisking revenue -- essentially property development and sales -- than on production revenue. And with only one major derisked property up for sale at one time, it's a lumpy share price trend.
asf's DMG (Dragon Mountain Gold) example is interesting. Recently gave back to shareholders 44 cents dividend and 11 cents capital following sale of its main gold asset. Stock was trading 20-40 cents until last Oct, then rose above 50 cents after news of the pending sale (currently 1.8 cents).
