Hi Simon. Yes its true what u say re Coal and the future but ....
Until such time as Emmissions Trading and caps and international monitoring is agreed and then put in place the insdustry is going to go crazy. The usual make hay while the sun shines.
A bit sad really. Remember also that IPL have diversified into general mine safety equipment eg proximity monitoring for big dump trucks etc.
The other thing is that i dont think Coal per se will be stopped but more to the point that carbon reduction eg cooling effleunt via chimeny stacks and extruding ash, co2 etc before emission will be technologies that will go gangbusters as indeed CSG and UCG.
I would expect that IPL will have a serious new direction in about 5 years from now - enough time for me to be comfortable
