tonnes in the ground are worthless if it cannot be sold thus obviously most graphite plays seems (correctly imo) dictated by "perceived" tonnage of future operations
large tonnage? imo, BKT need to secure at least 50Ktpa like KNL and preferably 100Ktpa
ideally, i want 100ktpa, which will be very competitive to achieve but very possible if the product is excellent & dogs like VRC don't lose their fleas. if VRC comes good, its going to be very competitive for the Tanzanian players
it all depends on the quality of the concentrate & BKT are aiming to have the highest quality concentrate to match MNS
thus the product & selling price is also essential, i.e, margin
if BKT can earn similar margins to what MNS have projected then 50ktpa is OK from here but 100ktpa what you want (to enter into the '10 bagger' realm from here)
the KNL battery offtake was small and the margins seemed questionable (since they were not mentioned, KNL has not announced a 99%+ concentrate & there is a middle-man taking a cut)
MNS are yet to announce anything about their targeted offtakes and the MNS proposed operation is big. 220,000tpa is lots of graphite for the projected future battery demand although MNS are only planning 130,000ktpa for batteries so hopefully there is enough of demand leftover
so obviously, getting offtakes won't be straightforward and, being logical (which does not always work out), one would assume only the very best will get the very best offtakes
graphite is not opaque. SYR are trying to self-manufacture their own destiny. KNL have done well with offtakes but have a middle-man involved, which questions both margins & markets; so BKT is the small puppy now in the big bad unknown world
hoping i have answered your question, @Jaded style, in memory
