Yeah, check with the various excahnges and their statements about the fork. All the exchanges should by now have made a media release about the positions on the matter.
I hold a few accounts and can tell you that coinbase will be allocating Bitcoin Gold to its customers, Bitfinex also are doing the same. If you hold an account, or want to set one up, you can transfer from your wallet to theirs before changeover, collect and then transfer back.
There is another way that is specific to hardware wallets but it looked to complicated for my liking so I cant advise there sorry ...
Be advised that Cointree and Independant Reserve (which are Aussie exchanges) are NOT supporting the hard fork, so get your BTC and ETH out now into one that does support it to get your free coins.
