I think its fine to attempt to short any instrument as long as you cover your bases.
In this instance as long as you have a stop, a plan and are aware of how bitcoin has a tendency to gap suddenly over large amounts then you might be able to make a short work.
Personally I think its a rather volatile short (dangerous) but don't let me stop you.
