I think the inflated bubble will last 6 months to a year but I don't see Bitcoin going away after that.

Remember the first time Bitcoin hit $1k and collapsed, before it's long and triumphant return? I think that will possibly happen again. Albeit on a much grander scale this time.

In terms of competitor coins, this points out a huge flaw in the Bitcoin mania ethos. Alt coins provide improved blockchain technology and added features. Bitcoin has first mover advantage but we can't tell at this stage whether Bitcoin is sufficient enough for longevity.
