I built a new farm shed recently, and the local swallows loved to sleep up in the rafters. I wasn't fond of all the poo on the concrete floor though...
Then last year they decided to nest there also. My problem was that the shed was not finished and could not prevent them from coming in. They produced 3 lovely kids after having tossed one overboard in the early stages.
But the tons of poo on equipment and tools just wasn't fun.
Now that part of the shed is completed an no access by birds. But they decided to make a nest in the open part of the shed... had to make a decision to remove their nest before laying eggs.
Both birds came back repeatly wondering what the hell happened with their nest... Ohhh, I felt so horrible...
Now, months later, they still come back and fly around, sit and watch me (maybe for a chance to get back at me...) s
