This was sent to me last night by another shareholder.
Worth the time to watch on the physical attributes of the iris when used in biometric identity. I found it educational and easy to understand.
The iris was patented in 1993 by Daugman.
Biometrics incorporating the iris is currently becoming one of the most favoured use in identification for its many applications, ease of use, speed and accuracy. (Note the end of the video which refers to passport users of billions per day identified within a fraction of a second)
It is also noted on the video, infrared light is preferred over visible light due to its ability to detect melanin (even in dark eyes) and iris texture.
WBT has incorporated the iris into its current multimodal development along with AI and deep learning (neural net) as reported from NXR's announcement. This was achieved by WBT as it stood in late September at 3.5% EER and keeps improving from WBT's developers. Although many shareholders were disappointed at this rate, it's important to note the previous lower EER was only based on one mode, the cornea, many years ago. The current development incorporates a multimodal approach using the the latest technological advancements (AI etc).
One mode is not sufficient anymore.
The market for biometrics is growing at an astounding rate. You only have google 'biometric news' to see the amount of companies incorporating biometrics in a vast amount of applications. It has become a marketing tool to woo customers large (government Defense & security, health, banking and finance) and small (online shopping etc), to just name a few.
I look forward to an update from the new directors of WBT & NXR on its plans to continue development and the next stage planned.
As was suggested by the shareholder who sent it to me...... It would be good publicity for WBT to produce a video educating proposed investors incorporating the cornea and its live pin quality (at the end of the above video it mentioned the iris 'could' be spoofed from a photo).... And to create a password to enter the WBT website using the technology.
