Labor and the Greens have signalled opposition to key elements of the Coalition's proposals to help traditional media companies compete in the digital market – while simultaneously criticising Fairfax Media for cutting journalist jobs.
Both Labor and the Greens warned that media diversity could be weakened by removing the "two out of three rule" that prevents a media organisation from owning a newspaper, radio station and TV network in the same market.
