MULTIMEDIA INDUSTRY VETERAN JOINS EMT BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Industry Expert and Digital Rights Pioneer to help position company
for rapid growth in North American market
Sydney, March 22, 2005 – Entertainment and Media Telecoms Inc. (EMT), the 4th largest supplier of On-Demand Entertainment Systems in North America today announced that long time US multimedia industry veteran and digital media rights pioneer Dave Weisman has joined its Board of Directors, effective immediately.
Mr. Weisman is credited with the successful development of several significant technology based businesses through the 1990’s, including Thomson Enterprise Networks, which he co-founded in 1996 and was acquired in 1999 at a valuation of USD$400m. His operational management skills also turned troubled ACT Networks around prior to a USD$275m sale to Clarent Corporation.
Having recently completed an equity investment in EMT, a rapidly growing supplier of state-of-the-art Video-on-Demand Entertainment systems focused on the hospitality industry, Mr. Weisman is bringing his long-standing reputation and hands-on experience to bear in developing EMT’s North American strategic and operational plans.
“Dave Weisman has been an innovator and major driver in the Multimedia Networking and red-hot in-room video on demand systems market for 15 years and has built a number of highly successful companies that have become leaders in their markets”, said Peter Dykes, EMT Executive Chairman. “We are looking to him to grow our market penetration in North America and to help us establish strategic partnerships with incumbent suppliers and other key market players.
“I have been watching EMT for over a year and I have been impressed with their rapid growth, successful penetration into the North American Hospitality market, and savvy business acquisitions”, commented Weisman. He added, “Acquiring Verizon’s Video-On-Demand Hospitality business customer base and GalaVu instantly given EMT critical mass in America and has totally legitimized them as a major player in North America. I hope to be able to help them navigate this market and make smart decisions as they build out their presence and attract new customers”.
