About 30 New Zealand TAB staff will lose their jobs next month when the betting agency closes its Palmerston North phone betting contact centre. New Zealand Racing Board chief executive Graeme Hansen said greater use of other technologies such as internet and Skybet have made contact centres less busy. The changing of the minimum phone bet to $5 also had an impact on the decision. In February, NZ TAB scrapped plans to close its Wellington contact centre. NZ TAB Phonebet previously operated contact centres in Christchurch, Wellington, Palmerston North and Auckland. http://www.callcentres.net/CALLCENTRES/LIVE/me.get?site.sectionshow&CALL2380
