Sydney, Oct 23, 2007 (ABN Newswire) -
Australian mineral explorer..... Niplats (NIP) .......rose; by as much as 45% today after the company announced it had discovered a mineralised zone 3.5km long and 1.6km wide at its Hart Dolerite intrusion in the Kimberley region of northern Western Australia.
"The Hart Dolerite has been described as one of the largest mafic (rock containing iron and magnesium) complexes in the world, which together with the Carson Volcanics, forms a large igneous (volcanic) province within the Kimberley Block," Niplats said of the region.
In 2006, a reverse circulation (RC) drill programme on the Hart Dolerite discovered an anomalous zone of the vanadium mineralisation, a silver grey metal often used in cars, planes and nuclear applications.
The (NIP)----2007 RC drill programme prioritised thirteen vertical drill-holes adjacent to the 2006 discovery holes. Vanadium assays have been received for the sampled intervals in 8 holes and all intersected vanadium mineralisation.
Niplats (NIP)--- has a 100% interest in three granted Mining Leases and two granted exploration licences covering 473 square km in the region.
...."The geology of the area supports a variety of mineralisation, as shown through the exploration results of Niplats and other exploration success in nearby areas as well as the establishment of large scale mining operations in the Kimberley," Niplats said...
Niplats has prepared a comprehensive two year exploration and evaluation programme for its existing Tenement areas.
Niplats said at the start of its drill programme that the proposed second year exploration was dependant upon results obtained within the first year and will be refined and varied based on those results.
More than 2 million Niplats shares changed hands today, four times the average daily volume.
The stock closed at 58 cents, up from yesterday's closing price of 42 cents.
