Im on night shift at the moment so I have had a fair bit of time to play around with the ideas and methods you have described.
I had a look at PLS, EVN, ELD, AJM, FMG, BHP.
Some of these look quite strong (BHP, EVN, ELD) and others look weak (PLS, AJM)
I did find when looking at the likes of KRC, CTM and a few other specs that a 200MA is a bit overkill relative to the usable price history. I ended up playing with relative changes to the longer term MA, in most cases using a 100 day MA.
My question: Is altering the underlying major MA a reasonable play given that some stocks just dont have 200 days of usable SP history.

I have mainly looked at stocks I hold (naturally) and a few others i'm interested in. (BOE is one you may like, good stock to trade yourself into a free carry position, currently gearing up for a good run with some news coming to top it off. I dont hold but will in the next day or two.)
