RFF is a core dividend holding in my portfolio holdings. Original entry around 1.1 so its been good for capital return and dividends.Am on the record as not agreeing with the feedlot purchase nor the recent emphasis on beef cattle.Agree with Datal that beef likely more cyclical than the horticultural holdings and more prone to drought.

Now if RFF really wanted to get in on the ground floor with a horticulture investment which will ultimately be large and lucrative they should look at avocado growing on north coast of Tasmania, based on the well drained Krasnozem soils.Early starters there are achieving record yields of quality fruit.Climate wise the cooler conditions allows slower ripening and less heat stress compared to mainland growers, which is being further accommodated by climate change similar to what is being experienced with grapes. An added bonus is the fruit fly free status which allows easy access to Asian markets which are only recently acquiring a taste for avocados. The marketing opportunity is immense especially considering the global supply shortage and the much touted health benefits from eating avocados.
