Major additions to the world’s known resources of tungsten were made in the 1960’s and 1970’s with the discovery of the Mittersill mine in Austria (acquired by Sandvik in 2009); the Salau deposit in France; the Mount Pleasant, Mactung, Logtung, and Mar deposits in Canada;
the Doi Mok and Khao Soon mines in Thailand and the Damingshan and Yangchuling deposits in China.
